The Dora Observatory
After our tunnel adventure we drove five minutes to the Dora Observatory. First image in the distance. It has a splendid view of the DMZ. However! No photos are allowed in front of this yellow line. The third image is shot from the line. The fourth also, but zoomed.
Within the Civilian Control Line is Unification Village. Built with South Korean money, it houses 155 families with 452 folks. They make goods sold in South Korea and are paid about $7 per day. Huge money for a North Korean. Crops are also grown there.
The DMZ is patrolled by Swiss and Chech Republic troops. Polish troops were there, but were asked to leave by North Korea when Poland ceased to be communist. Wait, wait, wait! Wasn't Chech communist too?
