Night shots

I walked around after dinner. The joint was jumping.
There is a Russian street near the train station. Lots of shops, bars and other businesses. All the signage is in Russian. Most of the westerners I saw were Russian. They are easy to spot.

Back to Korea

I subwayed and cabbed to catch the Beetle back to Korea. Busan is the second largest city in Korea and the sixth largest port in the world.
I explored a little on my one day in Busan. Tomorrow I,ll train to Inchon and catch the plane in the evening. Fast train by 12:30 or slow train at 9:30. It,s a big decision.

More stuff

There was a lot of melted and burned stuff on display. These are eyeglasses and bars of soap. The intense light and heat created shadows on walls of people and objects.

The atomic bomb

It,s called the hypocenter because the bomb was detonated at 500 meters above ground. These photos are taken through glass. It,s a dug up cross section of earth to show that the bomb deposited about 4 feet of dirt and junk at the blast site.
Nagasaki was a secondary target choice. The primary target was aborted because of visability problems due to smoke from recent bombing activity.
Nagaski was chosen because of the many manufacturing facilities and the military thought it would offer some interesting test results.
