# 37.1 Jiaoshi

Every hotel in town advertises itself as a spa. Along with a nice buffet breakfast, I got one free dunk per day in one of the private spa rooms. My hotel also had a group spa pool. I don't know what the rules listed here are. No peeing?, no lady joiner? Shower before bathing?
I caught Annies cold our last day in Taipei. This was a good place to rest and steam away the discomfort. Annie said that in spa towns, for money, ladies will bathe with you, and maybe do other things too. The only potential action for me was at a Vietnamese restaraunt I dined in. The Chinese owner was married to this Vietnamese ladies sister. He said Triivh was too old to find a boyfriend (she is 35!) He said he would give me free food if I would be her boyfriend. The language barrier was too great. It surprises me how few Taiwanese speak any English at all. In a resort town, people at hotel front desks speak none, not one word!
At the station, when I wanted to book my next train, I wrote the train number, the day, the time and the destination on a slip of paper. The ticket agent handed me a small preprinted form in Chinese and English. I rewote my info onto his form and sucessfully secured my ticket. I wanted to call Annie from the payphone at the station. To get smaller change, I slid a $50 coin to the ticket man and made the universal sign for telephone. You know, thumb to the ear, clenched hand holding a receiver, and small finger next to the mouth. He printed another ticket and slid $24 in change back to me. Maybe there is a town down the line from Jiaoshi called telephone!
It's winter here. Many folks bolt rainscreens with electric wipers to their motorbikes.
