Series # 64 Reunification Palace

The original building on this site was built in 1862 for French governor-general of Indochina. In 1962 it was bombed and mostly destroyed by an angry South Vietnamese pilot. President Diem had this beautiful building designed with a sizable bomb shelter built in the basement. Alas, he was murdered by his own troops in 1963, so did not see it's completion.
The building is a work of art. It's designed to be open air and allow breezes to flow through. There are many beautiful banguet and meeting rooms throughout its four floors.
The stairway here was destroyed in an attack by a South Viet pilot three weeks before the fall of Saigon.
