About 8:30, people began abandoning their spots. Nok and Siep are texting to pass the time. We heard the next day that in a nearby location there were 28 'incidents' of fireball activity. I also heard that the event is this night because of the October full moon. It is the day that Thai monks leave their monestaries after three months of seclusion. BUT! there was a hitch! The Lao monks were not coming out until the next day.
The wild bunch said "to heck with this nonsense", and had Kang drive them back to Chiang Mai. Tang Mo and I stayed on for two more nights. Nhon Khai is a lovely town. I'll be back to visit, but I'll come later in the winter, when it ain't so dammm hot.
