Back to Vietnam
I decided to pop over to Vietnam to see David. Vietnam is one of the view countries that require a visa before entry. Now a visitor can do it on line. If they are smarter than me. For $21.99 on a credit card, you apply. I was accepted and printed the paperwork I thought necessary. At the BKK airport, the Air Asia check in lady said I was missing the most important document, a page with my name and passport # listed among others that had applied the same day. I had to go to their office, log onto my E mails and the lady went to the Viet E mail and found and copied the document needed.
I arrived in Saigon with no further drama. The next morning I hopped a bus to the mountain town of Dalat. It was cold! I wore long pants for the first time on this trip. Under my birthday shirt Ni gave me, I'm wearing a tee shirt, as I have no vest or jacket.
On the top of the hill in the background was a US fire base during the war. There were 150 soldiers there with 10 105 MM Howitzers. They could lob shells two valleys over on to the Ho Chi Minh trail.
Heres a lake side resort and someones house. It's not too secure but has sat TV.
