Waiting for the train

There are two morning trains from BKK to Hua Hin. The 8:05 is a small aircon train. The fare is about $13. It was full. The 9:20 is many cars, no aircon and hard fiberglass bench seats. The fare is about $1.37! It's gawdawful uncomfortable. It was 30 minutes late leaving, and within three stops was filled to standing room only. The journey is about four hours. Farmers are burning off the rice chaff, so with the windows open I was pretty filthy with soot and dust by the time I arrived in Hua Hin.
Vendors sell hot food, snacks and cold soda and beer. Rather than use the trash bags provided, most passengers throw their styro containers and cans out the window.
