We spent an afternoon at the Botanical Gardens. These city gardens are 150 years old. There is a temporary exhibitions by the French sculptor Niki de Saint Phalle. Nikis' work was often geared to children. She liked to use scary images in a fun way. She was influenced by the Spaniard Gaudi of Barcelona. There was also a great deal of Dale Chihuli (sp) glass.
Hurricane Ike blew through town our last full day. We had to modify our morning plans, but were able to take a tour of of the Budweiser factory in the afternoon.
I will be going back to Thailand November 10. Keep in touch!
Bye for now, Doahlah

St Louis #3
Soozes' St Louis b'day #2
The City Museum was so much fun, we spent two days there. It is housed in a building that was a shoe factory. There is a spiral slide used to send shoes to floors below for additional work. Now it's a people slide seven stories tall. Outside are various cages for climbing. There is a crafts area, and for grownups, two bars!
St. Louis is struggling to reinvent itself. It is a mixture of derelict buildings and beautiful restored lofts and townhouses. We stayed in the Soulard district in a youth hostel. In the neighboorhood were more than 25 bars and restaraunts. The district is home of the second largest Mardi Gras celebration in the U.S. More next blog.

St Louis #1
Halloh! So, Sooze had a birthday. The party was in St Louis. I've traveled further than that for a good party! This is the birthday girl and her birthday breakfast.
The next photo is some of the group trading cell phone numbers in the event of separation in the big farmers market.
The next two photos are at the birthday party at the City Museum. As usual, I'm having difficulty blogging. Jonathan explained how to install more than four photos, but I can't seem to manage that. What a
surprise! In the middle of all this I lost my phone connection. I will post this now to see if it goes!!!!
