Happier times

I didn't get a choice in the matter. Aye, Joy and Owen slept in one tent. I was assigned to sleep with Brian and his wife. I chose to sleep outside. This upset Aye. I was the last one up at 7:30. After coffee, the tents were struck and we were on the road at 8:30.
We were on the way home by noon, two days early.

Lake Berryressa

Our camp was a quarter mile from both the lake and the nearest bathroom. All but Aye and Brian went swimming. Brian was passed out by about 3 P.M.
We get the tents up and the BBQ started while Brian sleeps. Chicken wings hot dogs and baked beans. Brian wakes up for dinner.

Camping

When we hooked up with Ayes friend Esa and her husband Brian. The woman in the blue shirt is Joy. It was an unusual trip. All the gear was piled on the picnic leaving no room to sit. Brian began drinking red wine about 11 A.M.

Drive through tree

The hole in this tree was cut a long time ago. The tree is still alive and healthy. Most of the vehicles passing through could barely fit. Nearly every SUV had to fold side mirrors in. Some with roof racks scraped going through. A BMW broke offa side mirror.

The Redwoods

The avenue of the giants. The biggest trees in the world.

Road trip #2

There were lots of cool fish, and some trained seals. The brown one is a two year old sea lion from Germany. When she arrived a year ago she only knew commands in German. The trainers had to teach her English. This gray one is an older female harbour seal. She had been to the vet recently and was sulking.

California road trip #1

Hi. My Thai friend wanted to take a road trip to San Francisco. She and her 12 year old son Owen (in the green shirt) and I headed down Highway 101.
In Crescent City we visited the local aquarium.
